The first ever Asia Law Firm Management Congress (ALFMC) will take place in Mumbai, April 20, 2017. Presented by ThomsonReuters and curated by IDEX Legal. The St Regis Hotel will be the conference venue.
As LegallyIndia has detailed — the event will bring together lawyers from leading law firms from across the Asia-Pacific region, leading industry speakers, consultants and solutions providers.
The focus of the conference is to address the key challenges and possible solutions facing law firms on strategy, planning, business development, communications and human resources.
India’s legal services market “at a crossroads”
IDEX Legal conducted a Law Firm Benchamarking Survey in 2016 — which revealed that India’s legal services market is “at a crossroads” — with liberalization a veritable certainty.
Globalization, reduced budgets and competition amongst one another as well as from new business models – are just some of the challenges facing India’s law firms.
The survey also found that few of India’s law firms see themselves as prepared for changes in the market. Fresh thinking in law firm management — including better use of traditional metrics — is now needed — the report concludes. Firms willing to institutionalize best practices are seen to be poised to seize future opportunities.
Firms that differentiate will succeed
In particular, the report cited that firms able to differentiate themselves in talent management, HR processes, strong financial management systems, integrated technology, client relationship management and business development – will be well-prepared to seize future opportunity amid market liberalization and increased local competition.
These issues will be discussed and deliberated in detail at the conference. And law firm leaders from throughout the region are encouraged to attend.
