In January of 2015 Asia Law Portal published the inaugural annual 30 people to watch in the business of law in Asia. Ever since then we’ve published a new edition each year:
- 30 people to watch in the business of law in Asia in 2015
- 30 people to watch in the business of law in Asia in 2016
- 30 people to watch in the business of law in Asia in 2017
- 30 People to Watch in the Business of Law in Asia in 2018
- 30 People to Watch in the Business of Law in Asia in 2019
In 2018, The Straits Times of Singapore reported on our edition of that year in an article entitled: 5 from Singapore on Asia power list in business of law.
As 2020 approaches, Asia Law Portal is welcoming nominations for 30 people to watch in the business of law in Asia in 2020. The 2020 edition will be published in early January.
The inspiration for 30 people to watch in the business of law in Asia
As Yun Kriegler outlined in The Lawyer in June of 2013: “As Asia-Pacific becomes a critical part of the global legal services industry and its key economies and jurisdictions become more closely interlinked, the need for a holistic view of the legal landscape has never been greater.” “People who have spent some time in Asia, Kriegler continued, “will know the markets there are still in their early years and public information on the legal industry is scarce.”
With Yun Kriegler’s observations in mind, Asia Law Portal inaugurated in 2015 an annual tradition of seeking to highlight those who are integral to shaping the business of law in Asia.
Criterion for inclusion in the 2020 edition
People nominated should in some way be involved in the business of law in the Asia-Pacific Region in a unique way, and not have been included in previous editions. This might include lawyers and legal professionals in startups, NewLaw, BigLaw, GlobalLaw, boutique law firms, regional elite firms, legal journalism, consultants to the profession, legal recruiting or other services providers to the profession: Anywhere interesting work is being done at the intersection of law and business in Asia.
With these criteria in mind, please send nominations via the form below (or via email: email@example.com) no later than Friday, December 20. Please include names of nominees, a link to their professional profile (e.g. LinkedIn, website or blog) and any relevant information on why you believe they should be included in the 2020 list. Thank you in advance for nominations and thank you also for your readership.
