John Grimley is editor and publisher of Asia Law Portal and author of A Comprehensive Guide to the Asia-Pacific Legal Markets (Ark Group, 2014). He specializes in providing writing, editing, research and strategy services to the corporate and professional services sectors. For over 17 years he’s helped law firms market their practices in international markets. Most notably, between 2002 and 2008, he established and directed the European representative business development office of US AmLaw 100 law and public policy firm Patton Boggs LLP. At the inception of his career, he served as a writer to the President of the United States in the White House.
His commentary on the business of law in international markets has appeared in Law360, Bloomberg Law, Remaking Law Firms, The Lawyer and Beaton Capital Blog. He’s also provided in-person briefings on trends in legal business in the Asia-Pacific Region to the Asia-Pacific General Counsel of the World Bank/IFC in Bangkok in 2014, Clyde & Co’s Asia-Pacific annual partners meeting in Hong Kong in 2014, the 2nd Asia Legal Leaders Forum in Hong Kong in 2015 and international legal network LexMundi’s Asia-Pacific annual meeting in Jakarta in 2016.
A licensed American lawyer, he holds a Juris Doctor from the University of San Diego School of Law, a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Loyola Marymount University and a Certificate in EU Studies from Sciences Po in Paris.
