Though in-house lawyers may work across dozens of industries and for hundreds of different companies, their concerns, challenges, and goals share more similarities than differences. Peer-to-peer networking opportunities, education focused specifically on the needs of working in-house, and resources tailored to corporate practice are invaluable in helping corporate counsel excel in their roles.

In-house counsel in Hong Kong will now have an even stronger in-house network behind them starting September 1st, when the Hong Kong Corporate Counsel Association (HKCCA) and the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) officially join forces. HKCCA will become ACC Hong Kong, and ACC will welcome approximately 800 HKCCA members to the association.

Current HKCCA members will benefit from the global resources and connectivity of the ACC global network across 85 countries. They will gain access to the extensive ACC resource library of regional and global-focused content, have the ability to participate in live virtual programming, and receive additional opportunities to travel to ACC conferences, such as the ACC Australia National Conference and the ACC Annual Meeting.

Meanwhile, the more than 42,000 current ACC members will benefit from new connections in Hong Kong, providing enhanced knowledge and insights into one of the world’s key business and commercial hubs. The new in-house counsel joining the association will provide an important perspective on legal issues and business challenges in Hong Kong and the broader Asia Pacific region.

According to the ACC Global Census Report, more than 80 percent of in-house lawyers in Asia Pacific maintain cross-border work responsibilities. That number is likely even higher when focusing specifically on the Hong Kong in-house legal sector.  The Hong Kong in-house community is diverse, the companies are multinational, and the legal questions transcend jurisdictions. Thus, the need to participate in a global peer network is paramount. By joining the ACC global network, HKCCA members will access the resources and benefits of a global association, while retaining local services and events previously provided by HKCCA.
