King & Wood has launched its Singapore office, deepening the firm’s presence in one of Asia’s leading financial and commercial centres and marking a new chapter in its international growth strategy. The office brings together an experienced team under the King & Wood brand, strengthening the firm’s cross-border capability across China, Southeast Asia and globally. The expansion reflects deepening economic ties between Mainland China and Southeast Asia, with Singapore playing an important role as a gateway for Chinese companies investing and expanding across the region and for international businesses engaging with China.

Located at Marina Bay Financial Centre, King & Wood’s Singapore office will be led by Senior Partner Liu Haitao (Harry Liu) and will launch with a team of nine partners, bringing together recognised expertise across corporate, capital markets, banking and finance and dispute resolution.

Serving as a hub for Southeast Asia and a gateway to global markets, the Singapore team will work closely with the firm’s offices across China, North America and Japan, with a special connection to the Hong Kong SAR office, to deepen the firm’s understanding of and engagement with its clients’ needs. The Singapore team will provide integrated legal services across the full lifecycle of cross-border investment, financing, corporate transactions, regulatory compliance, investigations, dispute resolution and private wealth matters.

The Singapore opening is the latest step in King & Wood’s international growth strategy, following the recent opening of offices in Los Angeles and Vancouver, continued investment in the firm’s Hong Kong SAR platform, and its relationships with global networks. Together, these initiatives demonstrate the firm’s commitment to building the leading international law firm in Asia, connecting clients, capital and opportunities across the world’s fastest-growing markets.

The firm’s global chairman, Wang Junfeng, said:

‘Singapore occupies a unique position in the regional and global economy. It is the gateway for investment throughout Southeast Asia, one of the world’s leading financial centres, a major hub for international arbitration and technology, and an increasingly important destination and springboard for Chinese companies going global. Our Singapore office builds on the firm’s longstanding presence in the market and is a natural extension of our international platform and our commitment to supporting clients across China, Southeast Asia and beyond.’

Hayden Flinn, chief executive of King & Wood’s Hong Kong office, said the Singapore office would further strengthen the firm’s ability to support clients operating across increasingly interconnected international markets and leverage the synergies between Singapore and Hong Kong SAR markets.

‘Our clients are increasingly operating across markets rather than within them. Singapore plays a critical role connecting China and Southeast Asia. Bringing Singapore into our international platform gives clients another important point of connection and strengthens our ability to support them as they invest and operate across Asia and internationally.’
