Assegaf Hamzah & Partners (AHP), one of the biggest law firms in Indonesia, recently participated in the Pre-Series A funding of Justika.com (Justika), the pioneer of legal services marketplace start-up in Indonesia.
AHP’s Managing Partner, Bono Daru Adji, remarked that AHP’s participation in Justika is part of its contribution in pushing for wider and easier access to legal services from professional advocates to the public.
Bono remarked that “to date, one of the biggest problems in Indonesia is the public’s lack of knowledge or difficulty in accessing legal services from professional advocates. AHP decided to invest in Justika to actively resolve this issue”, (22/01).
Bono continued, “the main reason why we chose Justika as a partner is because besides being the pioneer of the start-up market place for legal service, Justika also provides quick access to experienced professional advocates based on a fixed price. Advocates also benefit as they can develop their legal services to reach the wider community without being limited by space and time.”
Furthermore, Bono added that Justika is supported by a combination of a qualified technological product team and a line of experienced professional advocates. “AHP also recognises the importance of legal-tech’s role in the future. We believe that innovation in technology can become one of the solutions to increase access to legal services for the Indonesian public,” Bono concluded.
CEO of Justika.com, Melvin Sumapung, expressed that the company welcomed the collaboration with AHP. According to him, this cooperation with AHP, who is known for its high integrity, is in line with Justika’s intention to become a trusted platform for the public and advocates.
Established in 2001, AHP is currently one of the biggest law firms in Indonesia. With more than 140 fee earners, AHP possesses in-depth experience and knowledge in various regional expertise and key industries. In addition to upholding integrity and professional ethics as its main values, AHP is also known as the most innovative law firm as evidenced by “The Most Innovative Law Firm” award from the IFLR Asia Awards 2018.
A subsidiary of HukumOnline.com, Justika.com offers technological products that are specifically tailored to match clients and advocates. Justika.com already has hundreds of advocates in its database and has also received reporting of hundreds of cases. One of its innovations is the automatic phone consultation, which, thanks to technological advancement, is able to provide quick and practical access for a reasonable price to professional advocates without being limited by space and time.
